Tamil Jathagam Book
Tamil Jathagam Book
When a baby is born in a Tamil family, one of the first things the elders do is take the birth details to a Jothidar and get a jathagam book written. That handwritten book — with rasi kattam on the first page and dasha periods listed inside — is what most of us grew up seeing at home.
This page does the same thing. You put in the birth date, birth time, and birth place. You get a 54-page jathagam book in Tamil. Not a one-page summary. A full book.
The first few pages cover the basics — your panchangam details at birth. Thithi, nakshatra, yogam, karanam. Then your rasi kattam and navamsa kattam. After that, it goes deeper than what most people expect.
You get all 16 varga charts. Not just D1 and D9 — you get D2, D3, D4 all the way to D60. Most temple Jothidars don't even check all 16. But they're important for property (D4), children (D7), career (D10), or spouse details (D9).
The exact degree and minute position of each planet at your birth moment. This is the raw data. If you ever take your jathagam to another astrologer, they'll check this first.
Lists your Mahadasha, Antardasha, and Pratyantar Dasha for 120 years. So you can check which planet's period is running right now and what's coming next.
Shows where each planet is strong and where it's weak.
Used by astrologers to predict specific events or to time events accurately for 30 years.
The last section gives you year-by-year predictions for 30 years.
The calculation runs on Swiss Ephemeris — same data source that professional Jyotish software uses. So the planetary positions match what you'd get from any good astrologer's software.
You just need three things: date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. Birth time matters a lot here. Even 10-15 minutes off can change your lagna. If your birth certificate has the time, use that. Otherwise, ask your mother — they usually remember.
Once you enter the details, you get a free preview with your rasi kattam and basic chart. The full 54-page book comes as a PDF. You can save it, print it, or share it on WhatsApp.

Parents get it for newborns.
Families use it during marriage talks — the boy's side sends their jathagam book to the girl's family and vice versa. Some people generate it for themselves because they want to check what dasha period they're in right now.
And quite a few astrologers use it as a base document. They generate the book here, then do their own analysis on top of it. Saves them the calculation time.

Rasi kattam, navamsa, all 16 varga charts, nirayana spudam, vimshottari dasha for 120 years, ashta vargam for all planets, and 30 years of year-by-year predictions. It's the same content a Jothidar would write in a traditional handwritten jathagam — just more detailed.
Yes. The full book comes as a PDF. You can save it on your phone, take a printout, or send it to anyone on WhatsApp. Once downloaded, it's yours.
The free part shows your rasi kattam, navamsa, and basic planet positions. If you need dasha periods, varga charts, ashta vargam, and yearly predictions — you need the full book. For marriage discussions or consulting a Jothidar, the full version is what you'd share.
The planet positions use Swiss Ephemeris — that's the global standard. Same database that desktop Jyotish software runs on. The predictions follow traditional Tamil Jothidam rules. Main thing is your birth time should be correct. A wrong birth time means wrong lagna, and that changes everything.
Check your birth certificate first. If it's not there, ask your parents. Your lagna changes roughly every 2 hours, so even an approximate time within 15 minutes should give decent results. But for marriage porutham or dasha predictions, exact time matters a lot.
The main text and predictions are in Tamil. Charts and planet data show in both Tamil and English. If you want jathagam in Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, or Malayalam — we have separate pages for each language on this site.
One-page jathagam gives you a quick look — your rasi, nakshatra, lagna, and current dasha. That's it. One page. This book is 54 pages — all 16 varga charts, ashta vargam tables, full dasha listing, and 30 years of predictions. One is a summary, the other is the full report.
Yes, a lot of parents do exactly this. The book shows the child's nakshatra, rasi, and the suggested starting letter for the name. Print it and give it to your family pandit or temple Jothidar. They can use it directly.
We send a copy to your WhatsApp and email both. So even if you delete the file from your phone, you still have it in your chat and inbox. No need to generate it again.
Every jathagam has good periods and rough patches — that's how planetary cycles work. If the book shows a difficult Mahadasha or Antardasha coming up, talk to an astrologer about pariharam. The book gives you the information. What you do with it is up to you.
